This role runs the care team day to day: making sure the right people are in the right place, that standards hold up, and that support reaches people when they actually need it rather than when it happens to be convenient.
What you would be doing
- Organising the care team around people’s changing needs, and setting out clearly what each shift is expected to do
- Directing, mentoring and supervising the team, and acting as a model of how the work should be done
- Making sure dignity, respect and choice are not just words — that the team works that way every time
- Keeping senior staff informed of any concern or change in someone’s health and wellbeing
- Making sure people have daily opportunities for meaningful occupation and activity, and that the team supports them to take part
- Administering medication where the role requires it
- Driving up standards by upskilling the team through observation and mentoring, and supporting new starters
- Covering team leader shifts when needed, with a flexible working pattern
- Contributing to care planning by passing on what you have noticed about someone’s needs, wishes and changes
- Making sure records are completed accurately and close to the point of care, including how someone has spent their day
- Following safeguarding processes without exception, and monitoring care practice, addressing concerns proactively and documenting them
- Protecting senior staff’s time so they can complete medication rounds and care plan reviews properly
What we ask
- Real experience in care, and the confidence to hold a team to a standard
- Good written records, because other professionals rely on them
- A driving licence and your own car
- The willingness to have the difficult conversation early rather than late
What we offer
- £23,500 to £32,500 a year, pro rata, depending on experience and qualifications
- Fully funded training, including all NVQ levels
- A free company iPhone
- Fuel card, available on request
- Mileage allowance
- Paid holidays
- Refer a friend and earn up to £250
